AdminTottenham Hotspur have no intention of parting ways with defender Radu Dragusin during the January transfer window, despite speculation linking the Romanian international with a return to Serie A.
Reports have recently suggested that both Juventus and Napoli are monitoring the 22-year-old, but Spurs remain fixed in their stance.
Dragusin joined the North London club in January as part of a €31 million deal from Genoa, choosing for Tottenham over Bayern Munich, largely due to the promise of greater playing opportunities.
However, the move has not worked out as the young centre-back might have hoped. To date, Dragusin has made just 18 appearances for Tottenham and finds himself behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in Ange Postecoglou’s defensive structure.
This lack of playing time—only four Premier League appearances this season—has reportedly left Dragusin frustrated.
Nonetheless, his agent, Florin Manea, has dismissed any chance of a winter departure, pouring cold water on the rumours linking his client with Juventus or Napoli.
“He will not leave Spurs in the January window, no chance,” Manea told Fabrizio Romano.
“It’s an honour to be linked with Napoli and Juve, but these are just rumours. He has five years left at Tottenham. He’ll review the situation in June if he doesn’t get minutes.”
Dragusin faces a tough challenge breaking into the Tottenham starting XI as long as Romero and Van de Ven remain fit and in form.
While a summer move could be on the cards if his situation doesn’t improve, for now, Spurs appear committed to keeping the Romanian defender in their ranks.
