AdminQuelques jours après ses propos virulents envers l’arbitre Éric Wattellier à la mi-temps du match Lille-Rennes, le président du LOSC, Olivier Létang, est revenu sur cette scène controversée dans un entretien accordé au Figaro. Il reconnaît ses erreurs tout en défendant son point de vue sur l’état de l’arbitrage français.
Classique Olivier Létang. Le président lillois a été suspendu pour deux mois et demi par la commission de discipline de la Ligue, mercredi 14 janvier 2026, après avoir injurié verbalement l’arbitre lors de la rencontre du 3 janvier.
« You know what you did, it’s a disgrace, it’s a scandal », avait-il lancé depuis les tribunes du Stade Pierre-Mauroy, après l’expulsion d’Alexsandro à la 13e minute.
Avant sa sanction, le dirigeant de 53 ans s’était confié au Figaro : « In hindsight, two things come to mind: the substance and the form. On the substance, I’m right.
On the form, I’m wrong. » Et d’ajouter : « I made a mistake. As for the substance, we have a structural problem that I’m not personalizing, neither with the referees nor with any particular individuals.
[…] But the idea isn’t to be negative and criticize. The idea is to find solutions together: to talk, communicate, and figure out how we can improve things. »
Létang reconnaît également le côté pédagogique de l’incident : « The approach wasn’t good. It wasn’t productive, and it’s a lesson learned. It wasn’t the right time to do it; we’re always learning. »
Le président a ensuite évoqué l’avenir de l’arbitrage français : « There needs to be much more exchange and communication. We all want to improve the product, to take care of the game of football, and you can’t have one man who ends up being the main player.
» Et de pointer vers l’intelligence artificielle comme solution : « AI should allow us to reach 90-95% [accuracy]. » Une piste prometteuse pour réduire les erreurs et limiter les polémiques.
