AdminMarc Albrighton believes this could be the season that finally sees one of Leicester City’s brightest academy graduates establish himself in the first-team after years of showing enormous potential.
The former Foxes winger has watched the young midfielder develop from an early age and says the talent has always been there.
With Leicester beginning a new chapter under Russell Martin, Albrighton feels this is the perfect opportunity for the youngster to prove himself and secure a regular place in the squad during the 2026/27 campaign.
Speaking about the club’s young talents, Albrighton admitted that one player immediately stood out to him.
“The standout one is Will Alves.”
Having worked closely with Alves earlier in his development, Albrighton has seen first-hand the qualities that have made the youngster one of Leicester’s brightest academy graduates.
“I’ve trained and worked with him before and he had so much promise coming through at a very young age.”
Alves has already caught the eye during pre-season with his energy, technical quality and attacking threat, earning praise from supporters and coaching staff alike.
Many believe he is ready to compete for regular first-team football if he continues his impressive progress.
Albrighton hopes the midfielder can take advantage of the opportunities ahead and fulfil the potential many at the club have long recognised.
“It’s a big season for him. He’s such a good kid so I’m rooting for him.”
With confidence growing around Alves, Leicester supporters will be hoping this is the campaign in which one of their most exciting homegrown talents truly announces himself.
