It’s your turn: A Leicester City star who hated being dropped now has the chance to pay the Foxes and their supporters back.

Jakub Stolarczyk’s spell as Leicester City’s first-choice goalkeeper began with little fuss but quiet assurance, hinting the club had finally found a reliable long-term option.

In the early weeks of the campaign, his first as the undisputed No.1, the Pole carried himself with a calm authority and did little to alarm those around him.

That composure, however, proved fleeting. A sharp and sudden downturn followed, as confidence drained from his game under the intense scrutiny at the King Power Stadium.

The assured figure of those opening matches gave way to one increasingly uncertain, his performances marked by inconsistency rather than control.

There were moments, of course, when his reflexes bailed Leicester out, drawing applause from the stands. But such flashes were too often cancelled out by costly mistakes.

Rebounds spilled into danger, hesitation crept into one-on-one situations, and his command of the penalty area — particularly from crosses — became a growing concern.

In the unforgiving environment of the Championship, that lack of reliability forced a change. Andy King turned to the experienced Asmir Begovic, whose presence steadied a nervous defence.

“I want to give back to the club for the chance I was given as a 16-year-old boy, coming from non-league in Poland.”

Yet injury to Begovic handed Stolarczyk another opportunity, and to his credit, he responded with improved displays and valuable clean sheets.

“It was disappointing,” he said. “I can say now that I hated it. I’m not going to hide from that.”
