Leicester City were forced to make do without two key attacking midfielders in their 2-2 draw with Preston North End on Good Friday, and there remains uncertainty over whether either will return in time for Monday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
The foxes Star, the club’s leading scorer, was again absent after sustaining an injury while on international duty with is country.

Although the issue was initially not thought to be serious, the 21-year-old failed to prove his fitness in training and was left out of the matchday squad at the King Power Stadium. His involvement at Hillsborough now appears doubtful.
Aaron Ramsey also missed out after suffering a minor setback in training, compounding frustration following an illness that had already delayed his first appearance of 2026.
Rowett said: “He (James) tried it yesterday (Thursday) and it wasn’t quite right, so that was a disappointment for us. We’ll see where he is for Monday, it might be too quick of a turnaround.
“Aaron Ramsey felt something yesterday, obviously we’ve got to be cautious with him. I hoped he would be available for the bench.
“You look at that type of game, you’ve got Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James on as two 8s late on, you probably go and score another goal with the quality they’ve got.
“Bobby (De Cordova-Reid) was excellent when he came on and he didn’t even train yesterday, he landed yesterday afternoon.
“We’ll see where we are for Monday, the potential (of them returning) probably won’t be any different Monday.”
There was, however, a welcome return for Jannik Vestergaard, who made his first appearance since January, while Asmir Begovic was back in the squad for the first time since February.
