AdminGary Rowett has offered a measured assessment of Joe Aribo, underlining the midfielder’s value despite his limited involvement since the manager’s arrival.
The experienced coach acknowledged the reasoning behind Aribo’s signing, pointing to the player’s pedigree and understanding of the game.
‘With Joe’s experience, I can definitely understand why he was brought to the club’
Rowett went on to highlight the qualities that make Aribo a dependable option, particularly his intelligence and composure on the ball. While opportunities have been scarce so far, there is a clear sense that the midfielder remains firmly in the manager’s plans.
‘He’s a really intelligent footballer, he takes up good areas and he’s comfortable in possession. He’s going to be important for us’
Aribo, however, is still waiting to make his first start under Rowett, having been restricted to appearances from the bench in recent weeks.
That lack of minutes has prompted questions about his role, but Rowett’s comments suggest patience rather than concern.
With the season entering a crucial phase, competition for places remains fierce. Yet Rowett’s faith in Aribo’s ability indicates that his opportunity may not be far away, particularly as the demands of the campaign continue to grow.
