Leicester City have made their final decision on Jamaal Lascelles’ future at the club.

Jamaal Lascelles left Newcastle United in January to step down to the Championship with Leicester City.

The former Newcastle captain ended a 12-year spell at St James’ Park to aid Leicester’s promotion push after their relegation from the Premier League.

With only a handful of matches remaining, Leicester look destined for League One next season, raising fresh doubts over Lascelles’ future.

The Foxes are eight points from safety in 23rd, only Sheffield Wednesday below them after an 18-point deduction for administration breaches. Leicester themselves have lost six points for financial issues.

Even without sanctions, they would still be in the bottom three.

Since arriving, Lascelles has made eight appearances without experiencing a victory.

“I’m definitely going to add high standards, professionalism… for me, they’re non-negotiable. It’s the one per cents every day, dragging myself and other people on board and just keeping high standards. If you do that in and around the building, on the training pitch, it’ll carry onto the games.”

Lascelles had spoken of setting standards and driving professionalism upon his arrival, but results have failed to follow.

Back at Newcastle, he earned respect over 12 years, rising from squad player to captain during difficult seasons.

Even when not a regular starter, he retained the armband under Eddie Howe, Guimaraes insisting he join celebrations after Carabao Cup triumph.
