Leicester Cityβs fall into League One was confirmed on a sobering afternoon at the King Power Stadium after a 2-2 draw with Hull City, bringing a miserable campaign to its inevitable conclusion.
A decade on from producing one of the greatest shocks English football has ever seen by lifting the Premier League title, Leicester now find themselves preparing for life in the third tier. It is a collapse few inside the club could ever have imagined.

Hull took the lead before the interval when Liam Millar punished a dreadful mistake from Asmir Begovic, whose attempted pass handed the visitors a simple opening. For a brief spell in the second half, Leicester threatened to postpone the inevitable.
Jordan James pulled the hosts level before Luke Thomas turned the match around just three minutes later, sparking belief around the stadium that survival might still be possible. But that optimism disappeared when Oli McBurnie struck for Hull, leaving Leicester seven points from safety with only two matches remaining.
As the final whistle sounded, attention quickly turned to how a squad once expected to challenge at the top had fallen so dramatically short.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor said “Ipswich’s squad is no better than Leicester’s squad”.
Tommy Smith disagreed, saying: “I think that Leicester’s squad is an aging squad. They’ve not got the desire, which is why they are where they are” before adding: “You cannot tell me that Leicester City matches that squad”.
