Former Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has delivered a blunt assessment of the side’s defensive problems, questioning both the organisation and mentality within the back line after another disappointing display.
Morgan, who led Leicester through the most successful period in the club’s history, believes the current defenders have lost sight of the basics that once made the side so difficult to break down. Speaking about the team’s struggles, he said:

‘Forget about playing from the back, first look at your role your position’
His comments reflect the growing frustration among supporters who have watched Leicester concede poor goals throughout the campaign.
The former skipper suggested that too much attention is being placed on style, while the fundamentals of defending are being ignored.
Morgan also pointed to a lack of authority inside the penalty area, something he feels has become a major weakness in recent months. He added:
‘I don’t see the defence dominating or commanding their box, there’s no urgency’
That criticism will resonate with many inside the fanbase, with Leicester repeatedly punished by avoidable mistakes and a failure to deal with pressure in key moments.
For a player who built his reputation on leadership and discipline, Morgan’s words carry real weight.
His message was simple — before Leicester can think about how they play, they must first rediscover the responsibility, aggression and concentration required to defend properly at this level.
