AdminRoy Keane launched a furious attack on Axel Disasi after the West Ham defender’s costly mistake helped Newcastle snatch another damaging result against Nuno Espírito Santo’s side on Sunday.
West Ham had battled their way back into the contest and looked capable of taking at least a point, but another defensive collapse completely changed the game.
Disasi was caught hesitating while trying to deal with a dangerous ball into the area, allowing Newcastle to punish the Hammers with a second goal that silenced the London Stadium.
Keane was clearly unimpressed while analysing the moment after full-time, questioning why the French defender continues to be trusted despite a series of shaky displays in recent weeks.
Supporters inside the ground were equally furious, with many directing their frustration at Disasi after another costly defensive mistake ruined West Ham’s momentum once again.
The defender only arrived at the club earlier this year on loan from Chelsea, but uncertainty is already growing over his long-term future.
Reports in recent months have linked Disasi with interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray, while several European clubs are also believed to be monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Disasi has struggled to win over sections of the West Ham support since his arrival, with many fans questioning whether he fits Nuno Espírito Santo’s defensive system.
The latest mistake only added more pressure on the 28-year-old after another frustrating afternoon that saw West Ham throw away valuable points yet again.
