Finally, some positive and exciting news regarding Leicester City’s managerial search 😱😱😱: Leicester City have received a fresh update on their new manager. Has he finally agreed to join the club? It’s not Russell Martin!

Leicester City remain no closer to resolving their managerial situation more than a month after the end of a disappointing 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Gary Rowett has been in charge since February after agreeing a short-term deal, but his spell at the King Power Stadium brought little improvement.

The 51-year-old oversaw just two victories in 14 matches and was unable to prevent the Foxes from suffering relegation.

The club has yet to confirm whether Rowett will be retained for next season’s League One campaign, leaving plenty of room for speculation over potential replacements.

A number of names have already been linked with the vacancy. Russell Martin, Darren Ferguson and club legend Christian Fuchs have all been mentioned as possible candidates.

Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala was briefly discussed before accepting the managerial role at Bristol City, while Ferguson is reportedly edging closer to becoming Salford City’s new manager.

Another name that continues to attract attention is Dave Challinor. The former Stockport County manager had been strongly linked with Blackburn Rovers after guiding the Hatters to the League One play-off final and recording 144 wins from 268 matches in charge.

However, Blackburn ended speculation on Friday by appointing Tony Mowbray as Michael O’Neill’s successor. The experienced 62-year-old returns to Ewood Park after more than five years away.

That development leaves Challinor available, while reports also suggest Russell Martin is preparing to hold talks over a move to Leicester.

Would you take Challinor at City next season?
