West Ham United’s summer clear-out has continued with the departure of goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi, bringing an emotional end to a seven-year association between the Hungarian shot-stopper and the club.
The 23-year-old has completed a permanent move to Sparta Prague after progressing through the Hammers’ academy ranks since arriving from Hungarian side Haladás in 2019.

While Hegyi never made a senior competitive appearance for West Ham, he earned a strong reputation within the club’s youth setup, captaining the Under-21 side and being regarded as one of the academy’s brightest goalkeeping prospects.
His development saw him gain valuable experience during loan spells with Stevenage, FC Den Bosch, Motherwell, Debrecen and MTK Budapest.
The move to Sparta Prague offers Hegyi the opportunity for regular first-team football and a fresh chapter in his career.
West Ham confirmed the transfer this week and thanked the goalkeeper for his commitment and professionalism throughout his time in east London.
What made the farewell particularly touching was the appreciation shown by supporters and teammates alike.
Hegyi leaves with nothing but respect from the West Ham faithful, having represented the club with humility and dedication throughout his journey.
Sometimes football is about more than appearances. Krisztian Hegyi’s goodbye was one of those moments.
