BREAKING 🚨 Leicester City star has reportedly confirmed he wants to terminate his contract with Leicester City after everything the club went through because of him.

For a player who was once a regular at the heart of Leicester City’s defence, the end now appears to be drawing closer.

The experienced centre-back has been absent since the squad returned for pre-season, with his future at the club increasingly uncertain as discussions continue behind the scenes.

Rather than reporting back for training alongside Russell Martin’s squad at Seagrave, the defender has instead been involved in negotiations aimed at bringing his Leicester career to an early conclusion.

With only 12 months remaining on his current contract, both parties are understood to be exploring the possibility of reaching a mutual agreement that would allow him to leave before the new campaign begins.

The Danish international fell out of favour during the latter stages of last season and has not featured prominently in the club’s long-term plans.

Martin is reshaping his squad ahead of the Championship season, and the defender’s departure would free up space as Leicester continue to rebuild following relegation from the Premier League.

Jannik Vestergaard has held talks over terminating his contract. The defender is understood to not have reported for training since the squad’s return last week as talks continue over a settlement on his deal, which has a year to run.

If an agreement is reached, Vestergaard will become a free agent, ending a four-year spell at Leicester and opening the door to the next chapter of his career.
