Aston Villa have prepared an €80m bid for the Barcelona wonderkid, who could be the perfect replacement for Youri Tielemans

Aston Villa are reportedly preparing an ambitious move for Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal, with Unai Emery’s side ready to test the Spanish club’s resolve with a potential €80 million offer.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders after making his breakthrough under Hansi Flick.

Bernal made 33 appearances across all competitions as Barcelona secured the La Liga title, strengthening his reputation as one of the brightest prospects to come through La Masia.

Villa’s interest could now develop into a major transfer battle, with Arsenal also understood to have been monitoring the Spanish Under-19 international.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Aston Villa are prepared to outbid the Gunners with a package that could reach €80 million. Such a proposal would present Barcelona with a difficult decision.

Bernal is viewed as an important part of Barcelona’s long-term plans alongside academy graduates Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí.

However, the club’s ongoing financial difficulties could force them to consider significant offers for players who are not considered completely untouchable.

For Villa, Bernal would provide technical quality, composure and the ability to resist pressure in midfield.

Emery is keen to strengthen his squad with young talent capable of developing into a key player.

With Arsenal reportedly unwilling to match Villa’s proposed fee, the Premier League club could now have a clear opportunity to push ahead with the ambitious deal.
