Aston Villa have taken another major step towards completing the signing of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, with the club now working to finalise the paperwork for the Japan international.
The Premier League side have started exchanging documents with Parma after reaching an agreement over the transfer of the highly rated goalkeeper.
The move is progressing quickly, with Villa determined to get the deal over the line after a dramatic turn in Suzukiβs future.
The 23-year-old had been expected to join Paris Saint-Germain, but the proposed move to the reigning European champions collapsed on Sunday.
Villa subsequently moved decisively to take advantage of the situation, matching the French clubβs proposal and reaching an agreement with both Parma and the player.
Personal terms have also been agreed with Suzuki, clearing another important hurdle in the transfer.
The goalkeeper is now preparing to travel to England, where he is expected to undergo his medical before completing the move to Villa Park.

The latest development follows reports from Ben Jacobs and David Ornstein, who both indicated that the transfer was moving towards completion.
Suzuki has impressed since joining Parma and is regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in European football.
His arrival would also provide Villa with a potential long-term solution between the posts, particularly with Emiliano Martinez continuing to attract interest from clubs elsewhere.
The deal now appears to be entering its final stages.
