Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup defeat to PSG offered another reminder of Aston Villa’s remarkable progress under Unai Emery.
The club have gone from battling near the bottom of the Premier League to competing on Europe’s biggest stages in just a few years.
Now, attention is firmly on the future, with 17-year-old Brian Madjo emerging as one of Villa’s most exciting prospects.
The teenager impressed during pre-season, scoring against Real Sociedad, Walsall and Indonesia All Stars before finding the net against PSG in the Super Cup.
Madjo showed remarkable strength against Willian Pacho before finishing past Matvey Safonov, further increasing the excitement surrounding his potential. However, Villa have confirmed that he will miss around six weeks after suffering an injury.
Despite Madjo’s emergence, Villa are still looking to strengthen their squad. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is reportedly edging closer to a move following the collapse of his proposed transfer to PSG.

The club are also interested in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, with RMC Sport reporting concrete interest from Villa, while Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid remain in contention.
Chelsea are reportedly demanding at least £60m for the Senegal international. Jackson scored 30 goals in 81 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and recorded 15 goal contributions in 30 matches during 2024/25.
His ability to attack space and operate inside the box could offer Emery another dangerous option, although his arrival would make Madjo’s route into regular first-team football considerably more difficult.
