West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo has provided an update on the club’s squad ahead of their upcoming fixture, confirming that Joël Veltman will not be available for selection.
The Hammers have been dealing with several fitness concerns in recent weeks, and Nuno has admitted that there are still a number of issues within his squad.
However, the Portuguese manager has chosen not to reveal the full extent of the current injury situation.
Speaking about the latest team news, Nuno confirmed that Veltman remains unavailable, while also providing a positive update on Alphonse Areola and Tomas Soucek, who are both continuing to make progress in their recoveries.
“We have some issues, and Joël Veltman is among them. For sure he’s not going to be involved, but I won’t mention the other cases. Alphonse Areola and Tomas Soucek are getting better.”

The update means West Ham will have to prepare for the match without Veltman, although there is encouragement surrounding the condition of Areola and Soucek.
Nuno will now have to assess his available options before naming his matchday squad, with the manager keen to avoid taking unnecessary risks with players still working their way back to full fitness.
Further updates are expected before kick-off as West Ham look to maintain their strong start under Nuno and continue building momentum.
