Unai Emery is expected to rely on Alejandro Garnacho as Aston Villa’s schedule becomes increasingly demanding, despite the winger’s difficult start to life at Villa Park.
The 22-year-old joined Villa on loan from Chelsea during the summer but has struggled to secure regular opportunities.
He has played only 31 minutes across three substitute appearances and has remained an unused substitute in each of Villa’s last four matches.
There is currently no January exit clause in the season-long agreement, meaning Chelsea and Villa would both have to approve an early termination if Garnacho’s situation does not improve.
However, Emery is believed to have no immediate plans to let the Argentina international leave.
With Villa competing in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, the manager is expected to need greater squad depth during the winter period.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Garnacho hasn’t been playing for Villa. I think it’s 31 minutes he’s played for Villa across three substitute appearances.
“He’s been an unused sub for Villa’s past four matches as well. So look, he’s obviously struggling to win the faith of Unai Emery.
“Emery will need him at some point this season you would think, with Villa in the Champions League and going to have so many competitions and games that they’re playing in as well.
“But it’s up to the player. He needs to start impressing Emery in training to try and win his support and everything else.”
