Leicester City’s fight for Championship survival has taken on a deeply personal edge for Jakub Stolarczyk, who admits the club’s plight weighs heavily after nearly a decade in the East Midlands.
The goalkeeper, now firmly established as City’s number one, has seen the club become central to his life since arriving as a teenager.

“For the past nine years, I’ve been here more than at home,” Stolarczyk told LeicestershireLive.
“Leicester is my home, the club and the city are a huge part of my life. That’s why I take it personally, the position we’re in as a club.
“I want to give back to the club for the chance I was given as a 16-year-old boy, coming from non-league in Poland…”
Under Gary Rowett, there are signs of defensive improvement. After a barren run without a clean sheet, City have managed two in three matches, including a disciplined display at Watford. “There’s definitely fewer grey areas between all of us and as a team,” he said.
Jamaal Lascelles’ influence has also been significant. “Absolutely,” Stolarczyk added. “There’s no doubt about it.”
Having lost his place briefly to Asmir Begovic, Stolarczyk has responded impressively since returning, notably saving a penalty against Bristol City. “It was disappointing… I can say now that I hated it.”
With seven games remaining, his focus is clear: repay the faith shown in him and help steer Leicester to safety.
