Portsmouth head into Saturday’s relegation showdown with Leicester City knowing victory at Fratton Park could all but end their opponents’ survival hopes.
John Mousinho’s side are seven points better off than the Foxes with four matches remaining, having strengthened their position with an impressive 2-0 victory over promotion-chasing Ipswich Town in midweek.

That result moved Pompey further clear of danger, while Leicester arrive on the south coast in 23rd place and five points from safety after winning only once in their last 16 league matches.
Ali Maxwell of the Not The Top 20 podcast believes Pompey are well placed to deliver a decisive blow.
Speaking on the latest episode, he said: ‘The match situation is delightful for the neutral. Portsmouth are 19th on 48 points and Leicester are 23rd on 41 points. Leicester and Portsmouth both have four games left to play, three after this.
‘That means if Portsmouth win, Leicester can not catch them so there would only be one remaining relegation spot that Pompey could feasibly drop into.
‘I think Portsmouth showed all of them in midweek and most of them in beating Boro last weekend.
‘They’re lacking a lot of the things that I just listed that I think Portsmouth have that I think are really important.’
Maxwell believes Portsmouth’s intensity, togetherness and home support could prove decisive in a contest Leicester simply cannot afford to lose.
