Roy Keane says Leicester can bounce back after suffering another defeat against Portsmouth and reveals the reason why he said that.

Roy Keane believes Leicester City still have the foundations of a strong club despite their relegation and has backed them to respond in the right way next season.

The former Manchester United captain was speaking after Leicester’s drop was confirmed, with the Foxes enduring a miserable campaign that has fallen well short of expectations.

A season that began with hope quickly turned into a battle at the wrong end of the table, with poor performances and inconsistency costing them dearly.

Keane, never one to hand out praise lightly, said Leicester must now show character and learn from the disappointment of losing their Premier League status. While he was critical of the way the season unfolded, he insisted the club remains in a position to recover.

“Leicester is a good football club,” Keane said.

The Irishman pointed to Leicester’s recent history as evidence that a return is possible if the right decisions are made in the coming months. Recruitment, leadership and mentality will all be under scrutiny as the club prepares for life in the Championship.

Leicester now face a crucial summer, with uncertainty surrounding several senior players and questions over who will remain at the King Power Stadium.

Keane believes the club’s response will define the next chapter.

He has seen clubs struggle after relegation, but feels Leicester have enough quality behind the scenes to avoid a prolonged decline and give supporters reason to believe they can challenge for an immediate return next season.
