“That’s too harsh” 😭💔: Everton boss didn’t hold back this time as he made an unbelievable response to Roy Keane after what he said on Sky Sports on Friday.

Roy Keane has never been one to hide his feelings, particularly when Everton are involved, and few results during his managerial career hurt more than Sunderland’s humiliating 7-1 defeat at Goodison Park in November 2007.

The former Manchester United captain, now renowned for his brutal honesty in the television studio, later admitted the heavy loss was “one of the lowest points” of his career. It was a result that effectively signalled the beginning of the end for his time on Wearside.

While Keane endured a nightmare afternoon, David Moyes watched his Everton side produce one of the finest displays of his reign.

The Blues were in outstanding form throughout the 2007/08 campaign and the demolition of Sunderland was another reminder of the progress made under the Scot.

Summer signing Ayegbeni Yakubu led the charge after arriving from Middlesbrough for £11.25million. The Nigerian striker scored twice on the day and would finish the season with 21 goals in all competitions.

Dominic King wrote in the ECHO: “If Everton keep playing in this way, a wider audience will soon start to see that slowly but surely the seeds Moyes has planted are bearing fruit.”

Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar, Andrew Johnson and Leon Osman also found the net as Everton tore Sunderland apart with pace, movement and ruthless finishing.

Reflecting afterwards, Moyes said: “That was probably the best performance in my time here. Some of our football was fantastic and our passing and movement was just outstanding.”
