West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has reportedly hit back at former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher after comments made about his future and performances sparked huge reaction among supporters.
The criticism arrived during another difficult week for West Ham, with the Hammers battling serious pressure near the bottom of the Premier League table following their damaging defeat to Newcastle United.

Reports surrounding the club have intensified in recent days, with several pundits questioning whether some of the squad are capable of taking the club forward.
Carragher had previously suggested Bowen could miss out on England’s World Cup squad, despite the winger continuing to deliver for West Ham in an extremely poor campaign overall.
The former defender also claimed there are “better options” ahead of him in attack, comments which did not go down well with sections of the West Ham fanbase.
According to reports close to the dressing room, Bowen was left furious by the remarks and responded in ruthless fashion when asked about the criticism after West Ham’s latest match.
“People can say whatever they want from the studio,” Bowen reportedly said. “But they don’t fight every week on the pitch with this badge on their chest. I know what I give to this club.”
The England international reportedly continued by aiming a subtle dig directly at Carragher.
“It’s easy to speak when you’re sat behind a microphone. The players are the ones carrying the pressure.”
The comments quickly exploded across social media, with many fans praising Bowen for defending both himself and the club during such a difficult moment in the season.
Despite West Ham’s struggles, Bowen has once again been one of the few bright sparks at the London Stadium, contributing important goals and assists throughout the campaign while attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Many supporters now believe Bowen’s passionate response will only strengthen his connection with the West Ham faithful ahead of a huge summer for the club.
