Former West Ham captain Declan Rice has shared an emotional message following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, admitting he was devastated to see his old side drop into the Championship.
Rice, who came through the academy at West Ham United before joining Arsenal, remains a hugely popular figure among Hammers supporters and his reaction quickly struck a chord with fans across social media.

The England midfielder captained West Ham to Europa Conference League glory in 2023 and has often spoken about his deep affection for the east London club. Despite now playing elsewhere, Rice made it clear the bond has never disappeared.
He wrote: “I’m absolutely gutted to see West Ham relegated. A club that really does mean so much to me. I wouldn’t be where I am without everything the club has done for me. I have no doubt they’ll be back in the Premier League in no time. I will be supporting always ❤️”
The message arrives at a painful moment for West Ham after a disastrous campaign ended with relegation from the top flight. Supporters have been left searching for positives after a season filled with inconsistency and disappointment.
Rice’s words, however, offered a reminder of the connection many former players still feel towards the club and the belief that West Ham can quickly recover and return to the Premier League.
