AdminEverton are weighing up a move for Sporting CP full-back Georgios Vagiannidis as David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Toffees ended the 2025/26 campaign in disappointing fashion, failing to win any of their final seven league matches and finishing 11th.
While there has been clear progress since Moyes returned to the club, supporters are eager to see a more dynamic side capable of challenging for European places.
One area requiring attention is right-back. Club captain Seamus Coleman has brought the curtain down on his distinguished Everton career, while Nathan Patterson’s future remains uncertain. Jake O’Brien has filled in admirably but is not a natural option in the position.
According to reports from Portugal, Everton are in discussions with Sporting over a deal for Vagiannidis, with the Greek international potentially available for around ÂŁ8 million. Villarreal are also monitoring the situation, which could complicate negotiations.
The 24-year-old has built a reputation as an energetic and reliable full-back. Talent scout Jacek Kulig previously described him as a “complete full-back”, praising both his defensive work and attacking qualities.
Vagiannidis registered four assists despite making only 11 league starts last season, highlighting his ability to contribute in advanced areas.
That quality could prove valuable for Everton’s attacking players, particularly Iliman Ndiaye, who has become one of the club’s most influential performers since arriving from Marseille.
Moyes knows Everton need greater quality across the pitch, and Vagiannidis could be a smart addition.
