Nuno Espirito Santo has acknowledged that West Ham United will enter the new Championship season carrying the weight of expectation following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Hammers are widely regarded as one of the strongest sides in the division and are expected to challenge immediately for promotion back to the top flight.

With a squad boasting considerable Premier League experience and one of the largest fanbases in the Championship, West Ham will be viewed as a major scalp by every opponent they face.
Speaking about the challenge ahead, Nuno made it clear that there is no escaping the pressure that comes with the club’s status.
“We cannot hide that we’re going to be favourites. Every team that will come to the London Stadium will know that it’s going to face a team that was in the Premier League that is one of the big favourites to go back.”
The Portuguese manager believes his players must embrace those expectations rather than shy away from them.
While promotion will be the primary objective, he knows the Championship is one of the most demanding leagues in English football, with every side capable of causing problems.
West Ham supporters will be hoping Nuno can guide the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt. However, with rivals equally determined to stop them, the Hammers know they will have to earn every point along the way.
