West Ham’s first outing will see them travel to Roots Hall on Saturday 18 July to take on Southend United. The fixture is expected to provide an early test for the London club as they continue their preparations for the season ahead.
Just four days later, the Hammers will be back in action when they make the trip to the Lamex Stadium to face Stevenage. The match offers another opportunity for players to impress and stake their claim for a place in the side before the campaign begins.
The squad travelling for the friendlies will be without five players who remain unavailable due to their involvement at the World Cup. Their absence is likely to open the door for several younger players and fringe members of the squad to feature prominently during pre-season.
