JUST IN 😱😱: Russell Martin Has Just Finished a Meeting with Wout Faes’ Camp and Has Decided His Future at the Club — This Is the Decision They Made.

Leicester City manager Russell Martin has reportedly held crucial discussions regarding the future of one of the club’s most experienced defenders, with a major decision now believed to have been reached ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The Belgian international spent the second half of last season away from the King Power Stadium after securing a loan move to French side AS Monaco.

During his time in Ligue 1, he gained valuable experience and there had been widespread speculation that a permanent exit could follow this summer. However, recent developments suggest the situation has taken a different turn.

According to reports emerging this week, Martin recently met with the player’s representatives to discuss his role in Leicester City’s plans following the club’s appointment of the former Southampton boss.

The talks are understood to have been positive, with both parties keen to establish clarity before pre-season preparations begin.

The defender in question is Wout Faes.

Faes joined Monaco on loan in January after making 16 appearances for Leicester during the first half of the 2025/26 season.

The move included discussions over a potential permanent transfer, but recent reports indicate the French club are unlikely to complete a full deal, meaning the Belgian centre-back is expected to return to Leicester this summer.

Sources close to the situation suggest Martin has informed Faes’ camp that the defender remains part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.

With Leicester preparing for life under a new manager, the club values Faes’ experience, leadership qualities and international pedigree as they look to rebuild following a difficult period.

While transfer speculation may continue throughout the window, the current expectation is that Faes will report for pre-season training and remain at the club unless a significant offer arrives.

The decision provides Martin with an important boost as he begins shaping his squad for the new season.

For now, Leicester supporters can expect to see the Belgian defender back in Foxes colours as preparations for the new campaign gather pace.
