AdminHarry Winks has arrived in Cagliari to complete his move from Leicester City, with the midfielder now just the final formalities away from sealing his return to Italian football.
The former England international travelled to Sardinia alongside Jacopo Fazzini, who is also set to complete his transfer after leaving Fiorentina.
Both players are expected to undergo medical checks before their respective deals are officially confirmed by the club.
For Winks, the move represents a fresh start after an inconsistent spell at Leicester. The midfielder found himself in and out of the side and will now look to revive his career in Serie A, a league he already knows well from his previous loan spell with Sampdoria.
Speaking after arriving in Italy, Winks expressed his delight at returning to the country.
“I’m really happy to be back in Italy.”
The 30-year-old is expected to add experience and composure to Cagliari’s midfield as the club prepares for the new Serie A season.
His passing range and ability to dictate the tempo of a game were key reasons behind Cagliari’s interest.
Leicester, meanwhile, continue to reshape their squad under Russell Martin following relegation, with several departures expected before the transfer window closes. Winks’ exit is another significant change as the Foxes prepare for life in League One.
Once the paperwork is completed, Cagliari are expected to officially unveil Winks as one of their newest signings, bringing an end to his spell at Leicester City and marking the beginning of a new chapter in Italy.
