A Leicester City academy graduate has completed a permanent move to Barnsley, bringing an end to his time with the Foxes after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed transfer fee.

The young forward has signed a three-year contract at Oakwell, with Barnsley also holding the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

The move offers him the opportunity to continue his development with regular first-team football as the South Yorkshire club prepares for the new campaign.

Amani Richards progressed through Leicester City’s academy and was regarded as one of the club’s promising attacking talents.

Although opportunities with the senior side were limited, he impressed during his time in the development squads and now takes the next step in his career with Barnsley.

The transfer is expected to benefit both clubs. Leicester continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new season under Russell Martin, while Barnsley strengthen their attacking options with a player they believe has plenty of room to grow.

Richards will now be aiming to establish himself as an important member of Barnsley’s squad and repay the faith shown in him after signing a long-term contract. The 21-year-old arrives eager for a fresh challenge and the chance to make a lasting impact at his new club.
