Leicester City are set to arrive in Spain later today as Russell Martin’s squad begins the next stage of its preparations for the 2026/27 season.
The Foxes travelled to southern Europe on Monday and will take on two Spanish opponents during the training camp.
Their first test comes on Wednesday against Segunda División side Cádiz CF, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm, before they face newly promoted La Liga outfit Málaga CF on Saturday evening at 7pm.
The trip also provides Martin with another chance to put his tactical ideas into practice while allowing summer signings Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy to settle into the squad after linking up with their new teammates.
Leicester head into the camp full of confidence after a convincing 3-0 victory over Burton Albion at the weekend.
Goals from Kirsten Otchere, Will Alves and Nathan Opoku secured the win at the Pirelli Stadium, extending Leicester’s perfect pre-season record following earlier victories over Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers.
Speaking before the squad departed, Martin outlined what he hopes to achieve during the week in Spain.
“[I’m looking to] step it up again physically.
[It’ll be] two different challenges tactically in games so more learning, more improvement, more physical work and also we have a chance to spend a lot of time together [as] staff and players.

“So [we can] build a lot of connections and get to know people even better, for the players to get to know each other even better and to keep building the feeling that we have, which since I’ve been in the building, I’ve really enjoyed.
“I can see the players are really wanting to take things on and willing to take it on and hopefully we can just improve again through another week.”
After returning to the UK, Leicester will hold an Open Training Session on 31 July before rounding off pre-season against Serie A side Genoa at the King Power Stadium, where supporters can already secure tickets for both events.
