The forward had interest from elsewhere but felt Leicester offered the perfect opportunity to continue his career.
With the club beginning a new chapter following relegation, Chaplin believes the ambition and direction on offer made the move an easy one to make.
Leicester’s reputation, together with their long-standing success in English football, immediately stood out to the experienced attacker.
He also admitted that the confidence shown in him by Martin played a significant part in convincing him that the King Power Stadium was the right destination.
The manager’s desire to bring Chaplin to the club left a lasting impression, with the player believing he can continue to develop under Martin’s guidance while helping Leicester challenge for promotion this season.
Speaking about his decision, Chaplin said: ‘The obvious ones are the size, stature and history of the football club’.
He continued: ‘They were the main things, but the manager was someone that showed a real desire to get me in the building and made me feel like he would make me better as well’.
Those comments reflect the optimism surrounding Leicester’s rebuild, with Chaplin fully convinced he has joined a club capable of returning to where it believes it belongs.
