Leicester City have confirmed that defender Jannik Vestergaard has terminated his contract with the club by mutual agreement, bringing an end to his spell at the King Power Stadium.
The Danish international, who joined the Foxes from Southampton in 2021, leaves after making more than 70 appearances in all competitions.
Although his time at the club was mixed, the experienced centre-back remained a respected figure within the dressing room and played an important role during Leicester’s promotion-winning campaign back to the Premier League.
The decision to part ways comes as both player and club look towards a fresh start ahead of the new season.

With Russell Martin reshaping his squad, Vestergaard’s departure creates further room for changes in defence as Leicester continue to strengthen ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Club officials thanked the 34-year-old for his professionalism and commitment throughout his time at Leicester, wishing him every success in the next chapter of his career.
Vestergaard is now free to sign for a new club as a free agent, with interest already believed to be emerging from clubs across Europe and the Middle East.
His departure marks another significant change at Leicester this summer, with several senior players moving on as the club continues its rebuild under Russell Martin.
