AdminJoao Gomes has thanked Aston Villa’s supporters and players for making him feel at home since completing his move to the club this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder joined Unai Emery’s squad in July after Villa reached a £35 million agreement with Wolves for his transfer.
Gomes has quickly settled into life at Villa Park, featuring in all six of the club’s pre-season friendlies so far.
The 24-year-old is now expected to be involved from the start when Villa face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night, with the midfielder continuing to build his fitness ahead of the new campaign.
Gomes arrived just three days after Villa completed their club-record £52 million signing of Johan Manzambi from SC Freiburg.
Villa have continued to strengthen their squad during the summer, with Alejandro Garnacho arriving on loan from Chelsea with a conditional obligation to buy.
Emery’s side are also pursuing further additions, including Matteo Ruggeri and Joao Palhinha.
Gomes has now taken to social media to express his gratitude to his new teammates and supporters for the warm welcome he has received since arriving in Birmingham.
“Rarely in my life have I been so well received, thank you very much to everyone, especially to the players,” he posted.
“It really made me feel part of the group from the first day here in the Villa. I hope I can continue to help you write this winning story here.”
