Sassuolo have made an enquiry about Leicester City defender Caleb Okoli as they explore the possibility of bringing the centre-back back to Italy this summer.
The Serie A side have shown an interest in Okoli and have now made initial contact to establish the conditions of a potential deal.
While the enquiry is understood to be at an early stage, it could develop into a more serious approach in the coming days as Sassuolo assess their defensive options.
Leicester are believed to have placed a valuation of around €8m (£6.9m) on the defender, meaning Sassuolo would need to meet that figure if they want to make significant progress in negotiations.
Okoli joined Leicester last summer after spending the previous campaign in Serie A, where he gained valuable experience at the highest level of Italian football.

The 24-year-old remains part of the squad, although his future could come under greater scrutiny if a suitable offer arrives.
For Leicester, the priority will be ensuring that any departure works financially and does not leave Russell Martin short of options in defence.
With the new season approaching, the club will also need to weigh up whether selling Okoli would create a gap that must be filled before the transfer window closes.
For now, Sassuolo’s interest remains at the enquiry stage, with Leicester’s €8m valuation likely to be a key factor in determining whether discussions progress further.
