AdminAston Villa supporters were left frustrated after another difficult performance from Pau Torres, with many fans admitting they are already missing Ezri Konsa following his departure.
Torres struggled to provide the authority and consistency expected from him, with several moments during the game leaving supporters questioning whether Villa have made the right decision in allowing Konsa to leave.
The Spanish defender was unable to settle the backline, while Villa looked vulnerable whenever the opposition attacked with purpose.
For many fans, Konsa’s absence was particularly noticeable. The England international had become one of the most dependable figures in Villa’s defence, offering pace, strength and composure at the back.
One supporter summed up the mood bluntly, saying: “Pau Torres this is unforgivable.”
Another simply wrote: “I miss Konsa.”
Those reactions underline the growing concern among sections of the Villa faithful.
Torres remains an experienced defender and an important part of Unai Emery’s plans, but performances like this will inevitably increase the pressure on him.
Villa invested heavily in building a squad capable of competing at the highest level, and defensive mistakes cannot become a regular problem.
With the season now underway, Emery will know his side must quickly find greater stability at the back if Villa are to meet their ambitions.:::
