Just In 🚨: Carabao Cup Round Three draw — these is the possible opponents Aston Villa could face.

Aston Villa will discover their Carabao Cup Round Three opponents on Wednesday night as Unai Emery’s side prepare to enter the competition at the stage reserved for clubs competing in European football.

The draw will take place live on Sky Sports at approximately 10.15pm, following Preston North End’s Round Two clash with Everton, which kicks off at 8pm.

The draw will feature 32 clubs, including nine Premier League sides involved in UEFA competitions.

Aston Villa are among the teams that cannot face another Champions League or Europa League club in Round Three because of the congested European fixture schedule.

A pre-draw will determine whether the eight affected clubs play their Round Three fixture at home or away. That process will be shown live on Sky Sports at around 7.20pm, before the Preston-Everton match.

Once the main draw begins, the first eight ties will pair the European clubs with teams from a separate bowl.

The remaining eight fixtures will then be drawn normally. There will be no Northern or Southern split.

Villa’s potential opponents include Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and several Championship and lower-league sides.

Round Three matches will be played across the weeks commencing September 7 and September 14, allowing clubs to work around their European commitments. Supporters can follow the draw through Villa’s official channels.
