Matty Cash insists Aston Villaâs new-look squad will eventually click, while defending the clubâs heavy summer spending after losing a host of key starters.
Villa brought in 10 new players during the transfer window but also said goodbye to more than half of the side that started their Europa League final against SC Freiburg in May.
Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne and Ezri Konsa departed before Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez followed in the closing days of the window.
That upheaval has contributed to Villaâs difficult start, with several new arrivals yet to feature. Villa finally claimed their first point on Saturday after a goalless draw with Hull City, following defeats against Brighton and Arsenal.
âWe know it is different circumstances, but last season we struggled at the start and then started to pick it up. Itâs a new Villa, isnât it really? Hopefully we can keep working together on the training pitch and results will come,â Cash said.

Cash acknowledged the pressure but believes Villaâs rebuilding process will eventually pay off.
âThere is pressure. Playing at this level, you have to deal with the pressure and turn it into a privilege.â
Asked about losing Watkins and Martinez late in the window, Cash added: âYou donât want to make excuses. We know circumstances arenât great. When you lose so many key players in a quick space of time it is not great.â
