West Ham United’s reshaped first-team squad has endured a demanding opening two months of the season, with 11 competitive fixtures played since August 8.
Despite that workload, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have suffered just one defeat, underlining the intensity of their schedule.
The packed fixture list has already started to take its toll. Five matches in just 15 days left several players struggling with fatigue, while injuries to Joel Veltman, Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe forced them to miss games.
Veltman became the latest addition to the club’s injury list after sitting out the recent clash with Millwall, leaving Nuno with a valuable opportunity to give his squad time to recover.
The Hammers now have three weeks without competitive football, providing the players with a rare chance to rest, recover and work on the training ground before another gruelling period begins.

According to our source, Nuno has decided to allow his squad to decompress:
The decision comes with the fixture schedule set to become even more demanding.
After the Queens Park Rangers match on October 9, West Ham face a run of 18 games across three months, including lengthy trips to Blackburn, Cardiff and Swansea.
There is positive news, too, with Tomas Soucek and hopefully Alphonse Areola expected to return to full fitness when Championship action resumes next month. Soucek, in particular, would have been a valuable option against Millwall.
