There has been growing debate among West Ham supporters over Mads Hermansen, with the goalkeeper struggling to convince since arriving from Leicester City.
Hermansen was initially viewed as an important signing and one capable of becoming a long-term option between the posts.
However, his performances have raised fresh questions over whether he can provide the reliability required by a side hoping to return to the Premier League.
There are certainly positives. The Dane is comfortable with the ball at his feet, looks composed when playing as a sweeper keeper and can help West Ham build from the back.
Yet concerns over his command of the penalty area and vulnerability at set pieces remain difficult to ignore.
Those weaknesses were highlighted by Denmark manager comments after Hermansen was replaced by Chelsea loanee Filip Jorgensen for the Norway clash.

“I think Filip has a little more range and Norway has been superb on set pieces….We also know that Norway likes to pull in from the wings and finish with these twisted kicks. Filip may also have a little more range there. But it is in close competition.“
The comments have inevitably reignited discussion about Hermansen’s stature and ability to deal with aerial situations.
With Alphonse Areola’s future also uncertain, West Ham could face a major decision in January.
The Hammers may need to assess their goalkeeper options carefully if they are serious about strengthening their defence for another Premier League push.
