AdminQPR manager Julien Stephan has challenged his players to show ambition and courage when they face West Ham, warning that anyone unwilling to compete with the Championship leaders would be better off staying at home.
Stephan’s comments come ahead of a difficult test against a West Ham side that has enjoyed an impressive run of results before the international break.
The Frenchman believes his players must approach the contest with the right mentality if they are to have any chance of taking something from the game.
The QPR boss acknowledged the quality within the opposition, particularly their attacking threat, and insisted his team cannot afford to start the match on the back foot.
“We play a team who had some top results before the break, great ability to score, to create danger. If we start without ambition, we have to stay at home.”
Stephan’s message was clear: QPR must be prepared to take the game to West Ham rather than simply attempt to contain them.
The visitors have established themselves as one of the sides attracting plenty of attention in the Championship, with their attacking performances producing a strong run of results.
For QPR, the challenge will be to match that intensity and ensure they are not overawed by the occasion.
Stephan will now expect his players to respond to his warning on the pitch, with ambition and determination likely to be crucial throughout the contest.
The manager knows a passive performance could leave his side facing a long afternoon against a dangerous West Ham attack.
