🚨 BREAKING: Leicester City have released a statement on Russell Martin’s future, revealing the position they want him to achieve by January. You won’t believe the target they have set for him! 😳🔥

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has urged Leicester City to consider Darren Ferguson as a potential replacement for Russell Martin if the club decide to part ways with their under-fire manager.

Martin has endured a difficult start since taking charge at the King Power Stadium this summer, with Leicester languishing 17th in League One, just one point above the relegation zone, following their defeat to Peterborough last weekend.

Although the Leicester boss is not expected to face immediate dismissal, another disappointing result against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday could intensify the pressure on him.

Speaking on his Hard Truths Football Podcast after Peterborough’s victory, MacAnthony admitted he would welcome the opportunity for Ferguson, son of Sir Alex Ferguson, to take charge of the Foxes.

“I know this sounds like I’m vouching for Darren, but I wish he would get an opportunity that some of these managers get and Darren never has,” he said.

“His record in League One, his record on playing style and his record with young players, success and all of those things.

If Russell moves on and they need a plug-in-to-play, you get in your car, Darren lives around 45 minutes away, and you get him in.

“I guarantee you, seeing their squad and whatever else, he would have them in the top six by January, without a doubt.”

Despite recommending Ferguson, MacAnthony insisted he still believes Martin can turn things around at Leicester.

“I still think Leicester will be up there, as mad as that sounds with them 17th, I think everyone’s getting their knickers in a twist in who is first, 17th, 20th, whatever,” he said.

“I seriously think Leicester have the squad and resources, if they get sold as well, they could win 15 games in a row. I said this previously at Southampton, when he had a horrible start, watch when it clicks.”
