Gary Rowett has called on Leicester City supporters to put their frustrations on hold as the club battles to preserve its Championship status over the final seven matches of the season.

Discontent has grown steadily among the fanbase, with criticism of the club’s hierarchy spilling into protests outside the King Power Stadium at two of the last three home fixtures.

The mood around the club has been strained, even as the team fights to avoid a drop into League One.

Ahead of Good Friday’s meeting with Preston, where further demonstrations are expected, Rowett has once again appealed for unity.

The manager is keen for supporters to back the players, stressing that their encouragement could prove decisive in the closing weeks.

Despite the unrest outside the ground, the atmosphere within it has largely remained supportive.

Rowett believes his arrival may even have helped lift the noise levels at key moments, though he admits tension can still surface during matches.

He is hopeful that any lingering frustration can be set aside while survival remains within reach.

“If you’re a supporter of this football club and have been for a long time, you want to feel some sort of success at the end of a season. The only way we do that is together.

“I’d definitely ask fans to get behind us. I can understand that fans have frustrations. But I’d say, where you can, put that to one side and please get behind the team.

It makes a massive difference. You speak to the players, it makes a massive difference.

“At the same time, we understand to give them a performance to get behind. If I can say one thing, I would say please put your issues to one side if you can and get behind the team because it makes a difference.”
