Of no use 😭💔: Ex-PGMOL has made their final decision on the incident in the Leicester City game today — this is the decision they made.

Leicester City were left frustrated by a key refereeing decision during their 2-2 draw with Preston North End on Good Friday, adamant that Jordan Storey should have been dismissed.

With the Foxes trailing 2-1 just past the hour mark, Patson Daka burst through on goal only to be brought down by the Preston defender.

The loose ball fell kindly to Oliver Skipp, but he failed to convert before referee Ben Speedie returned to caution Storey, much to the anger of the home side.

Gary Rowett’s players made their feelings clear, while discontent quickly spread through the King Power stands.

Many felt the decision denied Leicester a clear opportunity to play against ten men during a crucial period of the match.

Former referee Keith Hackett, however, backed the official’s call. Assessing the incident, he insisted the presence of covering defenders prevented it from meeting the threshold for a red card.

“Happy that the referee has made the correct call of a yellow card. Covering defenders rule out DOGSO.”

Despite salvaging a point, Leicester remain in the relegation zone and may reflect on what might have been. On the balance of play, they created the better chances, registering more shots, greater possession and a higher expected goals tally.

Yet, aside from Daka’s clinical finishing, the cutting edge was missing. While Daniel Iversen impressed in goal for Preston, Leicester’s inability to convert promising opportunities ultimately proved costly in their fight for survival.
