AdminRowett sort it out” rang loudly from the Leicester supporters packed into the away end, a chant that cut through the afternoon air and spoke volumes about the growing unrest among the travelling faithful.
What began as a murmur of frustration soon gathered force, echoing around the ground as the Foxes struggled to impose themselves on proceedings.
There was a sharp edge to the noise, not merely the usual away-day encouragement, but a pointed demand directed squarely at the man in the dugout.
Gary Rowett has, in recent weeks, found himself under increasing scrutiny, and this latest chorus will do little to ease the pressure.
Supporters, who had made the journey in good number, expected far more in terms of organisation, urgency and attacking intent. Instead, they were left watching a performance that lacked cohesion and conviction.
The chant itself, simple and direct, reflected a fanbase growing weary of inconsistency. While patience has not entirely worn thin, there is a sense that time is beginning to run short if improvements are not forthcoming.
For Rowett, the message could hardly have been clearer. Football supporters are often quick to voice their displeasure, but this felt more deliberate, more unified.
As the final whistle approached, the words still lingered, a reminder that results alone may not be enough without a display to match expectations.
