Gary Rowett has rejected suggestions that Leicester City’s players lack fight, insisting that criticism aimed at his squad has become an easy label during a deeply disappointing season.
The Foxes slipped further towards League One after another damaging result, with supporters once again questioning the attitude and commitment of a side that has struggled to cope with the demands of a bruising Championship campaign.

Leicester have spent much of the season under pressure near the foot of the table, and frustration among the travelling support has grown in recent weeks as performances have continued to fall below expectations.
After the latest setback, Rowett was asked directly whether his players were showing enough desire in the battle to avoid relegation.
The Leicester manager was quick to dismiss that idea, arguing that the issue runs deeper than simple accusations about effort.
‘That’s been something labelled on the team over the course of the season. It’s an easy way to blanket the team’
Rather than questioning his side’s commitment, Rowett pointed to technical failings and poor decision-making in key moments as the real reason Leicester have found themselves in such a dangerous position.
‘We lacked quality, lacked composure and being in the right areas’
His comments are unlikely to ease the anger among supporters, many of whom believe the squad should be producing far more.
With only a handful of matches remaining, Leicester are running out of time to prove their manager right.
