Paul Merson believes Tottenham will survive the drop on the final day of the season, although the former Arsenal midfielder expects plenty of drama before the relegation picture is finally settled.
With only one point needed to guarantee safety, Tottenham remain favourites to stay up ahead of West Ham, largely thanks to their superior goal difference. But despite that advantage, confidence around N17 is far from high after a miserable campaign at home.

Spurs have won only twice at home in 2025-26 and have already suffered 10 league defeats in front of their own supporters this season.
Another loss against Everton would leave the door wide open for West Ham to complete a remarkable escape.
Merson expects the tension inside the stadium to play a huge role if Everton start strongly.
“This is such a hard game to call. Everton have been good away from home recently. I expect them to go out and play without fear, which can make life difficult for Spurs.”
He added: “I’m backing them to hang on for a draw. Tottenham to avoid relegation but I don’t see them being part of the top six next season! Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Everton.”
Merson also backed West Ham to beat Leeds despite their poor recent form.
“West Ham were disappointing against Newcastle. That performance was bordering on shocking, if I’m being honest.”
Still, he believes the Hammers’ desperation could prove decisive.
“I have a feeling West Ham will win. But Tottenham need just a draw and they are likely to get it. So I’m afraid it could be all over for West Ham. Prediction: West Ham United 2-1 Leeds United.”
