I don’t want to leave, I want to fight to bring the club back 😭💔: Leicester City are willing to let the Foxes star leave because of his wages, but he wants to stay and does not want to leave the club at this time.

Leicester City are expected to face a significant squad overhaul this summer as the financial realities of life outside the Premier League begin to bite, with several of the club’s highest earners likely to be moved on.

The club’s wage bill has become one of the most difficult issues for the hierarchy to address, particularly after another costly campaign that has failed to deliver the progress supporters had hoped for.

Leicester currently carry a number of senior players on salaries that are considered unsustainable at EFL level, with Harry Winks, Ricardo Pereira, Patson Daka, Jannik Vestergaard and Hamza Choudhury among the biggest earners at the club.

Those names represent a sizeable portion of Leicester’s annual spending, and the club may now have little choice but to listen to offers in the coming months as they attempt to bring finances back under control.

Several of those players still possess strong reputations in the game, which could attract interest from clubs both in England and abroad.

The scale of the problem is reflected in the club’s rising salary figures. In 2024, the average weekly wage at Leicester stood at £47,000, but that figure later climbed sharply to £67,000 a week, placing further strain on the club’s finances at a time when revenue has become increasingly uncertain.

For Leicester, reducing that burden may be just as important as rebuilding the squad, with difficult decisions now looming behind the scenes at the King Power Stadium.
