Can’t blame him: Preston North End manager Paul Heckingbottom makes this unbelievable post-match comment after today’s game.

Andrew Moran and Ben Whiteman were on the scoresheet for Preston North End, but Paul Heckingbottom was left frustrated after his side twice handed Leicester City a route back into a 2-2 draw on Good Friday.

The visitors fell behind in bizarre fashion when Moran’s attempted back pass was intercepted by Patson Daka, who rolled the ball into an empty net. Preston responded impressively, turning the game around before the break through Moran and skipper Whiteman.

Yet, with the points seemingly within reach, another costly mistake — this time from Pol Valentín — allowed Daka to equalise late on.

Reflecting on the result, Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Lancashire: “To say we created all four goals it’s not. That’s the frustrating thing. We know we’re playing against, regardless of their position, some real good individual players: dangerous, and we defended our box well.

“But for us to give them two goals the way we did… to get that point is impressive, it’s good, but also really, really frustrating.”

He added: “Yeah, we were dangerous… You’ve got to be ruthless when you’re coming away from home in the Championship.”

On the second half, Heckingbottom said: “Yeah, always (want more) but we’re playing against good players… Their changes, their risk-taking tended to pin us back.”

Despite the frustration, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen earned praise for a series of important saves on his return to Leicester.
