AdminUnai Emery has outlined his ambition to turn Aston Villa into a club capable of following the path once carved out by Leicester City, while insisting success must come through careful and sustainable growth.
Villa have enjoyed a remarkable rise under the Spaniard, establishing themselves among the Premier League’s strongest sides and competing regularly in Europe.
Emery, however, believes there is still plenty more to come from his side as they continue to build for the future.
Speaking about the club’s long-term vision, the Villa boss pointed to Leicester’s unforgettable Premier League triumph in 2016 as the kind of achievement he would love to replicate at Villa Park.
“Unai Emery 🎙🗣”We want to be able to do something here at Aston Villa like what Leicester did, or at least come close.
Ten years ago they won the Premier League, unfortunately this year they were relegated to League One. We want to do what Leicester City did, but with responsibility and sustainability’”
Emery’s comments reflect both ambition and caution, acknowledging the fine margins between success and decline in modern football.
Leicester’s historic title win remains one of the greatest stories English football has ever seen, but their dramatic fall in recent years also serves as a warning.
Villa’s hierarchy are determined to avoid that fate, backing Emery to develop the squad steadily while remaining competitive at the highest level.
